Game 1: CSUMB 1, SSU 0
Box Score
In what was truly a pitching duel with great defense, the Otters pulled out a 1-0 victory over Sonoma State.
CSUMB got out of an opening inning threat when Sonoma rattled off two straight singles and laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move the batters into scoring position. Senior catcher#
Shae Olds# caught SSU's Danielle Lowe taking too large of a leadoff at third for the second out. After a walk, junior shortstop #Jackie Serna# made a diving catch to end the inning.
Senior #Diane Ortiz# gave up one more single in the second before keeping the Seawolves hitless for the final five innings.
With a runner on first in the fourth inning, Orozco made an over the shoulder catch (Willie Mays style) while running towards the center field wall and pulled off a double play by picking off the runner at first.
Orozco recorded CSUMB's only hit of the game, a single to right center in the sixth inning.
With two outs in the seventh inning, Serna hit the ball to the left field. Although Sonoma State's defense was playing deep, CSUMB scored when the ball bounced out of right fielder Vanessa Currie's glove and over the fence.
Ortiz nabbed her seventh victory of the season after striking out five batters. SSU's Samantha Lipperd took the loss despite allowing only one hit and fanning 11 batters.
Game 2: SSU 6, CSUMB 0
