TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team clinched a 5-4 victory over No. 22 Hawaii Pacific Saturday night after cruising past Dominican 11-1 (5 innings) earlier that day.  

Junior #Jamie Moon# led the Otters with a two-game performance of 5-for-7 with three doubles, three runs and three RBI Junior #Stevie Trevino# joined freshmen #Danielle Onken# and #Brittany Alvarado# with four hits each for the day.

Behind a two-hit throwing performance by junior #Jessica Moon#, the Otters recorded 11 runs on 14 hits against the Penguins.

Moon's RBI single in the first inning put CSUMB on the board, 1-0.

The Otters added two more runs in the third inning with Moon leading off with a double.  Serna doubled up the middle to plate Moon and then scored on Alvarado's single to right center.

CSUMB extended its lead to five runs with two in the fourth on hits by Orozco, Trevino and Moon.

The Sea Warriors threatened in the fifth by posting four runs on two hits and a CSUMB error.  Junior #Caitlin Wallace# came in to relieve starter #Diane Ortiz# and got the Otters out of the jam with a back-to-back strikeouts.
