SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team had two big singles to each game of today's doubleheader against the Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Otters opened with a 8-0, five inning shutout and followed it with a 3-2 come-from-behind win in the closer.
Junior #Jamie Moon# led the Otters in today's doubleheader with four hits, including a walk-off single to win the closer. Senior #Shae Olds# went 3-for-5 with a double and her sixth home run of the season. Senior #Diane Ortiz# picked up her third win of the season on top of three hits at the plate.
The Otters and Toros conlcude the four-game series with a doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5.
Game 1: CSUMB 8, CSUDH 0

CSUMB posted all eight runs in the odd numbered innings, getting started with a RBI double by Olds in the first.
The Otters posted four more runs two innings later on four hits. Orozco touched home when junior #Jackie Serna# was rewarded first after being hit by a pitch. Ortiz singled up the middle to drive home two more runs. Senior #Shannon Bailey# knocked out a 2 RBI double to right center to increase CSUMB's lead to 5-0.
Serna and Ortiz each singled to being the fifth inning. Bailey laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners into scoring position. After #Audriana Gutierrez# singled to load the bases, the Otters once again scored after being hit by a pitch. Orozco's singled and Moon followed with a hit to end the game due to the 8-run mercy rule.
Game 2: CSUMB 3, CSUDH 2

CSUDH's Krista Goulds gave the Toro the lead with a home run over center field in the second inning. After four scoreless innings, CSUMB tied the game up on Olds homer that cleared the right center wall.
The Toros answered with a home run by Emiley McEwen in top of the final inning.
CSUMB came up big in their final at-bat. Bailey led off with a double. Onken reached on an error by CSUDH's first baseman. Gutierrez doubled to score Bailey and Moon hit a walk-off single to score Onken.
Junior #Caitlin Wallace# picked up the victory on the mound.
