SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team split a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday with No. 9 Western Washington at the Otter Softball Field. The Otters dropped game one 13-5 before rebounding with a 3-1 victory in the closer.
Junior #Stevie Trevino# had her best day of the season thus far, going 4-for-7 with two runs. Junior #Jackie Serna# went 3-for-6 on the day.
The Otters next compete in the Tournament of Champions hosted by Cal State Stanislaus on April 1-3 in Turlock.

In the first inning, senior #Shae Olds# crushed her ninth homer of the season to score Trevino and put CSUMB in the lead, 2-0.
The Vikings got on the board in the fourth inning with a run off a single.
WWU posted three, four and five runs in the following three innings for a total of 13 on the board.
The Otters would not go out quietly, racking up three runs in their final at-bat. Junior #Caydi Dommeyer# singled and sophomore #Angelina Orozco# drew a walk. Trevino singled to advance the runners and Dommeyer took advantage of throwing error by WWU's centerfielder by scoring. Junior #Jamie Moon#'s grounder to first scored Orozco. The final run was scored on Serna's single through the middle.

Senior #Shannon Bailey# had a scratched single to lead off the second and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by freshman #Danielle Onken#. After stealing third, Bailey scored on sophomore #Skyler Valdivia#'s lined single to center.
The Otters added two more runs in the fourth inning on two hits. With two outs, Orozco hit a 2 RBI single to put CSUMB up 3-0.
WWU's Wrigley hit a double off the left field wall to put the Vikings on the board.
Freshman #Kylie Linnane# recorded her seventh victory of the season, retiring five batters and giving up only three hits.
