CSUMB Rolls Past Sonoma State, 69-52

SEASIDE, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team recorded its 21st victory of the season, a 69-52 win over Sonoma State on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Kelp Bed.

The Otters improved to 20-2 overall and 17-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Seawolves fall to 7-16, 5-14 in conference action.

Senior #Julie Heurung# led the Otters with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore #Holly Holcomb# recorded her first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior #Michelle Santizo# added 12 points while dishing out six assists. 

After trailing 12-6 in the first five minutes of play, the Otters stepped it up with a 13-0 run capped by a 3-pointer by senior LaShawn Johnson

The Otters held the lead the rest of the first half, taking a 32-27 advantage into the break.

CSUMB shot 45.2 percent in the second half and dominated on the board by pulling down 23 to the Seawolves 13.  Heurung scored 14 (6-for-8) of her 20 points in the final 20 minutes of the game.

The Seawolves were led by Amrallina Rowland's 11 points and five rebounds.  Aly Henington added 10 points.

The Otters host Humboldt State on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kelp Bed.
