Second Half Surge Lifts Otters To Win Over CSULA

LOS ANGELES
– The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team staged a second half comeback, posting a 73-69 victory over Cal State L.A. on Saturday night at the Eagle Nest.

"The guys really battled tonight," said head coach #Rob Bishop#. "We were not very pretty, but we know that if we can keep it close late in games, we can close them out.

"No more road games is a good feeling."

The Otters improved to 9-13 overall and 7-11 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play while the Golden Eagles dropped to 12-10, 8-10 in conference action.

Sophomore #Davion Berry# led all scorers 24 points, with 15 in the first half. Senior #Warren Freeman# finished with a career-high 21 points. On top of his 10 points, sophomore #Brandon Ward# pulled down a career-best eight rebounds to lead the Otters.  Senior #Darroll Phillips# went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

The Otters outshot the Golden Eagles 43-29 in the second half, shooting 53.3 percent from the field.

CSUMB returns home on Friday, Feb. 18 to host Sonoma State at 7:30 p.m.
