SEASIDE, Calif.
– Sophomore Andrea Davis notched her first collegiate goal for the game winner over Cal State East Bay this afternoon, resulting a 2-1 decision at the Otter Soccer Complex.

The Otters improve to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action while the Pioneers dropped to 4-4, 2-4 in conference play.

"A great well deserved result," said head coach #Artie Cairel#. "Both goals for us were a result of grea plays and perfect execution."

The Pioneers took the lead in the 14th minute on Kara Yamamoto's goal from 15 yards out.

Freshman #Natalie Argueta# racked up her first collegiate goal in the 23rd minute, a shot to the far  post on a through ball by sophomore #Gabriella Bozzo#.

The Otters took the lead with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. Davis, who is one of CSUMB's goalkeepers, scored the golden goal in only her second time playing as a field player.  She placed the ball in the far right post  on a freshman #Sherene Thompson#'s free kick that went over the defense.

"I am so proud of all the girls for their commitment to play quality soccer," Cairel said. "What a testament to their fight and character given all the injuries this year.

"Outstanding team effort."

The Otters travel to Sonoma State on Friday for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
