SEASIDE, Calif. – Sophomore #Marlina Massagli#'s took advantage of perfect through ball from classmate #Korie Soares# just 26 seconds into the game to give the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team a 1-0 lead.  The Otters kicked off the 2010 season with a 2-0 victory over Menlo College on Thursday, Sept. 2 at the Otter Soccer Field.

"Game was a good measuring stick for us," said head coach Artie Cairel. "Very excited to begin to work on the areas that today's game showed us.

"Overall a good performance."

CSUMB's second goal came in the 61st minute on a penalty kick by freshman A.J. Cibulsky.

The Otters strong defense prevented Menlo from getting a single shot in the 90 minutes.

"The depth was the most exciting part of the game for us," Cairel said. "A lot of girls are very hungry."

CSUMB hits the road for a match-up against Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Belmont. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
