SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team will be the No. 1 seed as they look to defend its title in the 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Tournament that will be held April 30 - May 2 at Arnaiz Field in Stockton.
The Otters (32-16, 25-11 CCAA) completed a four-game sweep of Cal State East Bay over the weekend to win CSUMB's first regular-season title. The Otters will take on No. 4 Chico State (28-17, 21-14) Friday at 7 p.m.
Cal State Monterey Bay is making its third consecutive CCAA Championship Tournament appearance and was declared the 2009 tournament champion after posting victories over UC San Diego and Sonoma State.
The other first-round game will feature No. 2 Sonoma State (38-15, 24-12) versus No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills (31-19, 23-13). The Seawolves and Toros will open the tournament with a 4:30 p.m. contest on Friday.
The championship tournament is being staged in partnership with the Stockton Sports Commission.
All-tournament passes that include admission to all sessions can be purchased for $20. A one-day, general admission ticket is $8. College students with a identification and seniors can buy tickets for $4 and tickets for children ages 2-18 are $2. Children under two years of age are free.
