ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Senior #Veronica Williams# scored 14 points and junior #Julie Heurung# pulled down 14 rebounds, as the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team captured its second straight California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) game, 52-45 over Sonoma State on Thursday Night at the Wolves' Den.
Freshman #Holly Holcomb# recorded nine points, all from beyond the 3-point arc. Junior #Michelle Santizo# and Heurung each added eight points.
Holcomb capped a 10-0 run with a 3-pointer to make it 22-11 with five minutes remaining in the first half.
Williams knocked down a pair of free throws to notch a 29-17 lead into the halftime break.
The Seawolves (9-11, 7-8 CCAA) scored the first basket of the second half on a jumper by Elizabeth Day and went on to cut the CSUMB lead to 29-25.
The Otters held the lead to the end but Sonoma State was right on their heels. CSUMB made three of its final four free throws to clinch the victory.
CSUMB won the battle of the board, 44-36.

CSUMB (13-5, 9-5 CCAA) completes a four-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Humboldt State. Tip-off is 4:30 p.m.
