SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - In a total team effort, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball easily handled the Dominican University of California, 62-44, on Saturday afternoon.
All fourteen players saw action on the court tonight for the Otters with junior #Erika Ward# leading the way with 13 points, going 3-for-6 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Junior #Kris King# posted season highs with nine points and seven rebounds while sophomore #Holly Holcomb# contributed six boards. Senior #Michelle Santizo# added nine points and dished out three assists.
The Otters shot a season-low 50 percent (6-of-12) from the free throw line, but shot 44.6 percent from the field while holding the Penguins to only 28.6 percent.
CSUMB took a quick 21-11 lead in the first ten minutes of play and steadily added to the lead as the game moved forward. King connected on a layup just as the buzzer sounded to give the Otters a 34-20 advantage at half.
CSUMB continued to dominate with 10 of the 14 players making baskets.
None of the Dominican players recorded double digits as Kalya Valentine scoring nine points along with her four rebounds.
The Otters take a short break for the holidays before traveling to Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday, Dec. 29 for a 3 p.m. game.
