Otters Fall 4-2 To Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team fell 4-2 to the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona on Friday afternoon.

The Otters drop to 2-9 overall and 1-8 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action while the Broncos improve to 6-3-2, 4-3-2 in conference play.

CPP held a 2-0 lead at the halftime break courtesy of goals by Justine Barclay and Jennifer Rivera.

The Otters got on the board in the 74th minutes.  Sophomore #Gabriella Bozzo# tricked CPP's goalie and punched the ball into an unprotected goal.

After assisting Bozzo's goal earlier, sophomore #Marlina Massagli# notched her third goal of the season just four minutes later to even the game at 2-2. Freshman #A.J. Cibulsky# was awarded the assist.

The Broncos regained the lead in the 81st minute on a goal by Valerie Strawn and added an insurance goal four minutes later off the foot of Angela Garcia.

The number of shots in the game was about even with Pomona having the slight edge, 15-14.

Sophomore #Graciela Holguin# recorded nine saves in the game.

The Otters take on Cal State San Bernardino at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10.
