SEASIDE, Calif. – For only the fourth time this season, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team got on the board first. The Otters shutout the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State, 1-0, on Friday afternoon.
Freshman #Sherene Thompson# notched her second goal of the season, coming off a corner kick by #Alyssa Malfatti#. There was chaos in front of the goal and Thompson tapped it past HSU's goalkeeper Jennie Paugh.
CSUMB outshot the Lumberjacks, 10-7, with the Otters recording six shots on goal. Sophomore #Graciela Holguin# finished with three saves.
The Otters will conclude their 2010 season on Sunday, Oct. 31, hosting Sonoma State at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the game, CSUMB will honor its five seniors: #Emmi Doniak#, #Carrie LaPonza#, #Ashley Rohdes#, #Annie Schlimmer# and #Makayla Whitney#.
