SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team fell 5-1 to the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State this afternoon at the Otter Soccer Complex.
A highlight for the Otters came in the 84th minute when sophomore #Tomas Salinas# scored on a rebound from freshman #Jon Decker#'s shot. As walk-on last year, this was Salinas's first goal of his collegiate career. He fulfilled a promise he made to his departed uncle by making the team and scoring a goal.
The Jacks took a quick lead by scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of play. Josh Suggs scored his first of three goals of the game in the fourth minute of play and Scott Mariani added another in the ninth minute.
HSU took advantage of the Otters being forced to play down a man with 52 minutes remaining by scoring three more goals.
Junior #Sam Campanelli# collected five saves as the Otters were outshot 13-9.
The Otters conclude the 2010 season on Sunday, Oct. 31, hosting Sonoma State at 3 p.m. Prior to the game, CSUMB will honor its three senior: #Andy Binol#, #Juan Pablo Murillo# and #Grant Robson#.
