TURLOCK, Calif. - Senior #Veronica Williams#'s 19 points led Cal State Monterey Bay to a 64-52 victory over Cal State Stanislaus in women's basketball action on Saturday night.
The Otters improve to 12-5 and 8-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action while Stanislaus dropped to 5-12, 4-9 in conference play.
Junior #Michelle Santizo# added 11 points while classmate #Julie Heurung# pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds.
After five tied scores and four lead changes in the first half, the Otters dominated the second by outscoring the Warriors 40-31. CSUMB shot its highest field goal percentage of the season in the second half, going 14-for-23 (60.9 percent) after a dismal first half 5-for-27 (18.5 percent).
The Otters scored 25 of their points from the free throw line after the Warriors were called on 31 fouls.
Stanislaus was led by Christin Gowan with 21 points.
CSUMB hits the road again to take on Sonoma State in Rohnert Park on Thursday, Feb. 4. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
