SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior third baseman #Ashlee Trotter#'s ninth home run of the season propelled the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team to a 3-0 non-conference shutout over Grand Canyon University on Sunday at the Otter Softball Field.

CSUMB improves to 32-23-1 on the season and Grand Canyon drops to 36-25 overall.

Trotter crushed her homer on a full-count pitch to lead off the second inning, giving the Otters a 1-0 lead.

CSUMB racked up two more runs in the fourth inning on only one hit. Trotter and senior #Rachelle Morales# both drew walks to begin the inning and advanced a base on a ground out. Junior #Jennifer Montez# hit a RBI single up the middle and freshman #Jamie Moon# connected on a sacrifice fly to score Morales.

Senior #Jessica Boyle# notched her sixth complete game shutout of the season. She did not allow a GCU runner reach third base, while racking up six strikeouts and allowed only four hits.

CSUMB complete its regular season next weekend, hosting UC San Diego in a four-game series.  Play begins on Friday at 1 p.m.
