ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay softball team dropped both their games on the opening day of the Seawolf Invitational, falling 3-0 to Sonoma State and 4-2 to Chico State.
In the first game, against host Sonoma State, the Otters were held to just three hits. #Lucia Rodriguez#, #Jamie Moon# and #Shelair Rowell# each recorded a single.
The Otters got their first run of the day on a RBI single to left field by Rowell, taking a 1-0 lead against Chico State in the third inning.
Chico State tied the game in the top of the fourth, but CSUMB quickly retook the lead in their frame on a single by #Niki Ames#.
The Wildcats scored three more runs in the fifth inning to record the victory.
Against the Wildcats, Ames went 3-for-4 and
Rachelle Morales went 2-for-3.
#Jessica Boyle# picked up both losses, starting in the opener and coming in relief against Chico State.
The Otters (13-13-1, 9-3) begin the second day of the Seawolf Invitational by taking on Grand Canyon at 9 a.m. before a rematch against Chico State at 3 p.m.
