LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team fell, 70-50, to No. 13 UC San Diego on Saturday at RMAC Arena.

Senior #Dana Andrews# led the Otters with 17 points and six rebounds.  Junior #Janet Oseguera# recorded 10 points and junior #Helen Suarez# dished out five assists.

After the Tritons took an early 10-3 lead, the Otters rallied back to close the gap to 16-14 on an old-fashioned 3-point play by Oseguera.   The Tritons answered by opening the gap again with a 13-1 run.

UCSD held a 37-21 lead at the break.

CSUMB opened the second half with a 7-2 run to cut the Tritons' lead to 11, before the nationally ranked team pulled away once again on an 11-2 run.

With the win, the Tritons secured the top seed heading into the CCAA Championship Tournament beginning on March 3.

The Otters (10-14, 5-13 CCAA) return to the Otters Sports Center to wrap up the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 26 against Cal State San Bernardino followed by a match-up to Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Feb. 27.  Both contests are scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
