Game Notes
FIRST PITCH:
After finishing 1-4 in the Cal State San Bernardino Tournament last weekend, the Otters continue with their first conference games. CSUMB will travel to San Francisco State and compete in two double headers verse the Gators. To close out the weekend, the women's softball will face the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur at 12 p.m. in Belmont, Calif.
NEXT WEEK:
CSUMB continues on their stretch of away games while heading to Carson, CA to battle against Cal State Dominguez Hills. This series will include a two-day double header set of games.
SFSU PREVIEW:
The Otters hope to start off CCAA competition with a victory after two consecutive tournament preparations. CSUMB is currently 2-8-1, while the Gators of San Francisco are coming off their first conference games. The San Francisco State softball team split two extra-inning games with UC San Diego on Saturday in a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Triton Softball Field in La Jolla, Calif. The Gators (4-5, 1-3 CCAA) opened the day with a 9-8 victory in 10 innings, before the Tritons (6-2, 3-1 CCAA) came back to capture game two, 5-4, in eight innings.
2009 SUPER REGIONAL PREVIEW RECAP:
Playing in temperatures ranging from 30 to 40 degrees, the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team went 1-4 at the 2009 Division II Super Regional Preview hosted by Cal State San Bernardino this past weekend. The Otters started the tournament strong with an 8-0, five-inning game against Regis University on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Otters dropped the next two games, beginning with a 3-0 loss to Adams State and followed with a 6-5 nail-bitter to No. 18 Colorado School of Mines. On Sunday, the Otters had a second chance against the Orediggers of CSM, but came up one run shy in a 9-8 decision. CSUMB capped off the tournament with an 8-7, eight-inning loss to Notre Dame de Namur where the Otters registered 16 hits to the Argonauts eight.
