SEASIDE, Calif. – Senior #Veronica Williams# and junior #Julie Heurung# each scored 12 points to help the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team clinch a 70-57 victory over Dominican University on Monday, Dec. 28 in non-conference action.

The Otters improve to 6-1 overall while the Penguins fall to 3-7 for the season.

Junior #LaShawn Johnson# finished with nine points while seniors #Helen Suarez# and #Jazz Herrera# added eight points each. Freshman #Holly Holcomb# and Williams pulled down a game-high eight boards.  Suarez dished a season-high seven assists.

A layup by Heurung got the Otters first on the board.

CSUMB jumped out to a 13-point lead but the Penguins rallied back to close the gap to 33-29 at the break.

A three-pointer and layup by Williams gave the Otters a 10-point lead (50-40) with 11 minutes remaining. CSUMB cruised to a 71-57 victory.

The Otters got 39 points from the bench and dominated the boards with 54 to the Penguins 26.

CSUMB returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 2 to host Humboldt State at 5:30 p.m.
