Baca earns second consecutive shutout

SEASIDE, Calif.
– Junior #Andrew Breault#'s first-half goal stood up for Cal State Monterey Bay, which earned a 1-0 victory over visiting Brigham Young University Hawaii in a non-conference men's soccer game Tuesday afternoon.

Breault hooked a shot from just inside the 18 yard line off of a pass from senior #Nate Torricelli#.

Senior goalkeeper #Brenden Baca# earned his second consecutive shutout and extended his scoreless streak to 203 minutes. Much help came from the play of defenders senior #Riley Johns# and sophomore #Eli Zamora#, along with freshmen #Kyle Castaneda# and #Gabe Glass#.

Baca made only one save as the Otters outshot the Seasiders, 13-2.

“Two wins with consecutive shutouts puts us in a good position going into this weekend,” said head coach #Artie Cairel#. “This was another complete team effort.

“We were very pleased to display exciting soccer.”

The Otters (3-7-2, 2-4-2 CCAA) return to conference action on Friday, Oct. 9, hosting Cal State San Bernardino at 3 p.m.
