Otters Fall To SF State In Overtime

SAN FRANCISCO
– The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to the San Francisco State Gators on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium.

Despite being outshot 6-2 in the first half, the Gators took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Sasha Chalak headed in a corner kick from Spencer Schwandt.

The Otters tied the game at 1-1 the 65th minute of the second half. Sophomore #Beau Villanueva# connected on his first goal of the season, his second of his career, from 20-yards out.

SF State scored the golden goal with four minutes to go when Edgar Villagrana scored from a pass from Shwandt.

CSUMB outshot SF State 13-11 on top of recording more corner kicks, 6-4.  Senior #Brenden Baca# collected three saves.

CSUMB closes out the 2009 season this coming weekend with two home games.  The Otters host Cal State Stanislaus in a “Kick for a Cure” game” on Friday, Oct. 30, and then welcomes Chico State in their regular season home finale on Sunday, Nov. 1.
