Otters Fall In Double-Overtime To San Francisco State

SEASIDE, Calif.
– The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team fell in double-overtime, 2-1, to the Gators of San Francisco State this afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.

The Otters fell to 3-11-3 overall and 2-9-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action while the Gators improved to 8-6-3, 6-5-2 in conference play.

SF State took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Nicole Vanni scored on a cross from Katie Voss.

CSUMB scored the equalizer when senior #Sarah Alderson# headed in the ball off a corner kick by senior #Alyssa Matheson# in the 23rd minute.  This was Alderson's third goal of the season.

After a scoreless second half, the game when into the first overtime period which the Otters took one shot to the Gators two shots.

With 2:14 left in the second overtime, Vanni found Myriah Johnson who crushed the ball into the middle of the net to clinch the victory.

With the game ending in 12 shots a piece, the Otters outshot the Gators in the first half 9-2.  Freshman goalkeeper #Andrea Davis# collected four saves.

The Otters travel to the San Francisco on Sunday, Oct. 25, to take on the Gators at 2 p.m.
