SEASIDE, Calif.
– Cal State Monterey Bay fell to the Humboldt State Lumberjacks 1-0 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's soccer bout Sunday afternoon.

The Otters dropped to 4-9-3 overall and 3-6-3 in CCAA action while HSU improved to 5-9-2, 4-7-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, the Lumberjacks' Josh Suggs scored in the 47th minute on a rebound from Peter Darquea's shot.

Senior goalkeeper #Brenden Baca# collected a career-high 10 saves in the contest.  Seniors #Eric Alsop# and #Nate Torricelli# led the Otters with two shots.

The Otters were outshot 9 to 19.

“Illness and injury really hurt us today losing three starters from Friday,” said head coach #Artie Cairel#.  “The team battled to the end despite playing a man down. Hitting the bar in the last minutes and the pressure we put on them with 10 players reflects their desire to get back to the top half of the standings where we are accustomed.”

CSUMB hosts conference rival San Francisco State on Friday, Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.
