SEASIDE, Calif. – Freshman #Isabella Ortuno#'s first collegiate goal was enough to lift the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout over Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday at the Otter Soccer Complex.
The Otters improve to 3-9-2 overall and 2-7-1 in CCAA action while the Broncos fall to 6-8, 2-8 in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, CSUMB scored in the 72nd minute. Freshman #Lindsey Gatlin# took a shot from 15 yards out and Ortuno blasted the rebound into the back of the net.
The Otters were outshot 19-7, 11-3 in the second half. Freshman goalkeeper #Andrea Davis# recorded eight saves in the game.
CSUMB continues its five-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 16, hosting Sonoma State at 12:30 p.m.
