TURLOCK, Calif. – Junior #Helen Suarez# scored 21 points as the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team fell 73-57 to Cal State Stanislaus Friday at Warrior Arena.
The Otters drop to 9-8 overall and 4-7 in CCAA play as the Warriors improved to 9-9 overall (4-7 CCAA).
Senior #Dana Andrews# recorded a team-high seven rebounds on top of her 12 points.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the first half, taking advantage of the Otters' season-low 16.0 field goal percentage. Cal State Stanislaus held a 32-19 lead at halftime.
The Warriors opened the second half with an 8-2 run for a 19 point cushion. CSUMB closed the gap to 46-36 when Suarez made a layup at 11:16.
The Otters shot an improved 48.4 percent from the field in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors shot 56.5 percent.
CSUMB wraps up its four-game road trip on Saturday, Jan. 30, against Chico State. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
