OPENING TIP:
The Otters return home Thursday, Jan 15 to host San Francisco State after completing their four-game road trip that wrapped up in Southern California last weekend.

LOOKING AHEAD:
CSUMB embarks on another four-game road trip, beginning with a stint at Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Jan 23.

SCOUTING THE GATORS:
Still looking for their first victory since the New Year, San Francisco State dropped both games last weekend.  The Gators began the road trip with a 68-45 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. and followed it up with a 60-56 loss to Cal State L.A. on Saturday.  Player to watch: Desiree Butler (7.9 ppg, 27 steals), Krystle Mays (6.8 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Jessica Freeman-Hout (6.2 ppg, 17 blocks).

SCOUTING THE TRITONS:
The lone undefeated team in the CCAA conference, UC San Diego pulled off a 62-58 victory over Cal Poly Pomona on the road last weekend.  The Titans only two losses came from No. 16 Seattle Pacific (63-59) on Nov. 21, and St. Mary's (75-65) on Dec. 19. Players to watch: Michelle Osier (17.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 53.3 field goal percentage, 39 steals), Alexis Gaskin (11.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 10 blocks).  

OTTERS BREAK INTO THE NATIONAL STATISTICS:
CSUMB finds itself ranked 119th in scoring (68.6 per game), 71st in the nation in free throw percentage (72.6 percent)  and 99th in 3-point field goal defense (30.4 percent). Individually, junior #Helen Suarez# is ranked 36th in assists per game, averaging 5.0.  Senior #Dana Andrews# is ranked 92nd in points per game with 16.3.

AGAINST CAL STATE L.A.:

The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team went 6-for-8 at the charity stripe in the last 30 seconds to clinch a 61-59 victory over Cal State L.A. on Friday, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) match-up. Junior #Helen Suarez# led the Otters with 14 points and four steals.  Junior #Janet Oseguera# and #Lindsay Trout# scored 12 and 11 points respectively. Senior #Dana Andrews# pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds and scored seven of her nine points in the last two-and-half minutes.

AGAINST CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS:
Senior #Dana Andrews# scored 19 of her game-high 26 points in the second half to spark a late rally for the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Otters fell 73-61 to Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Torodome. Junior #Helen Suarez# recorded her fourth 20-plus game with 22 points to go along with four steals.  Andrews led the Otters in rebounds, pulling down five rebounds.

POST GAME COMMENTS BY JIMENEZ:
Cal State L.A - “We got a lot of things we need to work on, but our heart and our fight is not two of them. I will take those two over any skill, and that is why we continue to win games.”

RECORD WATCH:
Senior #Dana Andrews# is about to add another career record to her achievements after her 1,000 point milestone accomplishment on Nov. 15 against University of Mary. Andrews is eight steals shy of current record holder Alma Lopez's 116.

SUAREZ SMOOTH IN THE CCAA:
Junior #Helen Suarez# recorded her fourth 20-plus game in the Otters last match vs. Cal State Dominguez Hills. Suarez has also elevated to the top of the scoring charts against CCAA opponents, averaging 18.2 ppg, which lands her 1st in the conference rankings. Also in those rankings, Suarez clinched the 5th spot in free throw percentage (80.0) and 7th in assists per game (3.0).

MAKING HISTORY:
The Otters have surpassed the most wins in a single seaswon with their current overall record of 8-4. CSUMB tallied a total of seven wins back in the 2006-07 season.

#Helen Suarez# – 5th in scoring (15.2 per game); 1st in assists (5.0 per game); 2nd in steals (2.5 per game); 5th in free throws percentage (79.7 percent).

#Janet Oseguera# – 3rd in field goal percentage (54.9 percent); 15th in offensive rebounding (2.5 per game).
