ROHNERT PARK Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team was unable to hold a 1-1 tie, falling to No. 16 Sonoma State University this afternoon at Seawolf Field. The Otter drop to 0-7-1 (0-4 CCAA) as the Seawolves improve to 7-1-0 (3-0 CCAA).
Sonoma State's freshman Taylor Edmonds scored the first goal at the 17-minute mark.
Junior #Alyssa Matheson# earned her first goal of the season on a deep shot from midfield to tie the score at 1-1 in the 33rd minute.
Right before the halftime whistle, the Seawolves edged ahead on a goal by Kayce Brawley.
Despite the Otters outshooting the Seawolves 6-4, Sonoma State scored three goals in the second half. Junior Lindsay Catton registered a pair of goals and freshmen Kiley Brown added her third of the season.
The Otters return home for a non-conference game against San Francisco Academy of Arts on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Kick-off is at 12:30 p.m.
