CSUMB Earns 1-1 Tie Against Central Washington

SEASIDE, Calif. –The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie against Central Washington University on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Otters Sports Complex.

The Wildcats capitalized on a breakaway on the left side as freshman Serena Tomaso scored on a shot to the far corner at the 41-minute, 30-second mark.

CSUMB answered with goal less then a minute later as senior #Eva Arzola# notched her first goal of the season on a header from a cross by junior #Alyssa Matheson#.

Freshman goalkeeper #Graciela Holguin# nabbed eight saves.

Otters had a chance to take a 1-0 lead earlier in the first half on a direct kick just outside the penalty box.

The Otters outshot CWU in the first half, 10-2 but the Wildcats dominated the second half and overtimes with a 16-4 shot count.

The Otters (0-3-1) open their California Conference Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Friday, Sept. 12 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Kick-off is schedule for 12:30 p.m.
