SEASIDE --- Two Otters scored more than 20 a piece, but visiting CSU Stanislaus' balanced attack was the difference as Cal State Monterey Bay fell to the Warriors 74-67 Friday night at the Otter Sports Center.
#Dana Andrews# led all scorers with 24 and her teammate #Britnea Moore# scored 21 from off the bench, but it left the Otters short as the rest of the team combined for just 23. Shristy Shumar led the Warriors attack with 17.
After falling behind early, Cal State Monterey Bay (2-18 overall, 1-12 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association) led midway through the second half, taking a 59-57 lead on a score by point guard #Alma Lopez# (nine points on the night), but lasted less than five seconds when a foul by Moore sent Tiare Dvorak to the line and Moore to the bench with four fouls.
Moore would re-enter the game with 3:27 left and her team down 65-61, but the Otters would not be able to close, still trailing by five as the clock wound down to a minute. The Otters began to foul the Warriors, hoping they would miss free throws, but CSU Stanislaus (6-13; 4-9) would make enough of them to stay well ahead and finish the game.
#Krista Herr# and #Aly Tsuchiyama# handled the rebounding duties for CSUMB with nine boards each. Lopez had six assists while playing the entire 40 minutes. CSUMB had three less turnovers in the game and three less rebounds.
