SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey women's basketball team defeated Bethany University, 67-59, on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the Otter Sports Center.
Junior #Helen Suarez# led the Otters with 16 points and nine assists. Freshman #Devin Riezebos# scored a career-high 11 points. Junior #Janet Oseguera# added 10 points and eight rebounds.
After five lead changes early on in the game, the Otters went on a 10-point run that begun on an old fashion three-pointer by Suarez, taking a 17-6 lead.
Junior #Brittany Kikuch#i finished the half with a three-pointer to take a 43-24 lead.
CSUMB shot 46 percent from the field (26-for-56) and 29 percent from long range (5-for-17). Bethany hit a low 20-for-67 shots from the field for a percentage of 29.9, while only converting on 1-of-15 long range shots (6.7 percent).
The Otters outrebounded Bethany 37-33, while pulling down 15 offensive boards.
Bethany was led by senior Rosie Brown who scored 14 points and pull down seven rebounds.
The Otters kick off the CCAA conference schedule on Friday, Dec. 6, hosting Chico State at the Otter Sports Center. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
