BELMONT, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team dropped its final game of the Notre Dame de Namur Tip-Off Classic to Western Oregon University by a score of 71-57 on Sunday Nov. 16.
After accomplishing her 1,000 career point milestone in the first game of the tournament, senior #Dana Andrews# poured in 17 points, hitting three of her five three-point attempts of the game. Juniors #Lindsay Trout#, #Helen Suarez# and #Denelle Baker# each contributed 10 points. Suarez added a team-high seven assists and six rebounds.
The Wolves were led by Katie Torland with 26 points and 15 rebounds.
"We played two tough teams this weekend, and we learned a lot about who we are and where we can go this season," said head coach
Renee Jimenez. "When we can learn to put 40 minutes together, we will be a tough team to beat!"
Suarez was selected to the All-tournament team. For the weekend, Suarez averaged 17 points per game while recording 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 11 steals.
The Otters play their final tournament at the Cal State Stanislaus Thanksgiving Classic. CSUMB takes the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur University on Friday, Nov. 28, followed by the Knights of the Academy of Art on Saturday, Nov. 29. Both games begin at 12:30 p.m.
