SEASIDE, Calif. – Junior #Alyssa Matheson#'s two goals gave the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team their first California Collegiate Athletic Association conference victory, a 2-0 win over Humboldt State University this afternoon at the Otter Soccer Complex.
After a red-card was issued to a Lumberjack seven minutes in, CSUMB had a one-player advantage for the remaining of the game.
Matheson drilled the ball from about 12 yards out to the middle of the goal in the 21st minute. Senior #Eva Arzola# and freshman #Kelsey Poulsen# registered the assists.
With only six seconds remaining in the game, senior #Stacy Michelsen# crossed the ball over to Matheson who tapped it in for a goal. With this goal, Matheson joined Arzola as career goal leader at CSUMB with seven goals.
The Otters outshot the Lumberjacks, 17-4.
In her second start in the goalkeeper role, junior #Annie Bordwell# earned her first shutout having to only make one save.
Prior to the game, CSUMB honored five seniors, #Cassidy Bennett#, #Elise Reid#, #Stacy Michelsen#, #Eva Arzola# and #Loren Schofield#.
