Otters Blanked By No. 13 Sonoma State

SEASIDE, Calif.
– After drawing a 2-2 double overtime tie against the Seawolves on Sept. 21 in Rohnert Park, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team were shutout 6-0 to No. 13 Sonoma State University this afternoon at the Otter Soccer Complex.

The Otters fall to 3-10-4 overall and 3-7-3 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.

Sonoma State took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game on senior Eric Lafon's seventh goal of the season. Senior Nathan Medina and freshman Cam Vickers were awarded the assists. 

The Seawolves added to their lead when Ross Middlemiss scored on a pass by Medina in the 23rd minute. With less than four minutes left in the half, Sonoma State's freshman Davide Furtado scored on a lead pass by Middlemess to give the Seawolves a 3-0 lead at the break.

At the 60-minute mark, Furtado scored again to raise Sonoma's lead to 4-0.  The Seawolves added two more goals in the 75th and 77th minute with Cam Vickers and Taylor Jones each earning their second goals of the season.

Junior goalkeeper #Brenden Baca# registered five saves as the Seawolves outshot CSUMB 22-6.

CSUMB will close out their CCAA conference season on Sunday, Oct. 26, hosting Humboldt State University.  Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
