TURLOCK, Calif --- Three Otters scored in double figures but Shristy Kumar scored 23 to lead the CSU Stanislaus Warriors past the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team Saturday night.
The Otters fell behind early and trailed 37-26 at halftime. That deficit got as large as 15 before a late run by the Otters nearly pulled them even. With 2:08 left in the game, Alma Lopez finished the run with a three-pointer, one of just two baskets she made in the game, to make the score 65-60. But CSUMB would score just four more points the rest of the way and the Warriors finished improved their record to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The loss would drop CSUMB to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in conference.
#Dana Andrews# scored 15 to lead the Otters, #Sabrina Jenkins# scored 13 off the bench and #Brittany Kikuchi# had 12 points in the game. But the excellent production from the bench did not match the hot shooting of Kumar. She hit 8 of 13 shots and 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Her teammate Katie Busi led the game in rebounds with 12. CSUMB's top rebounder of the game was #Krista Herr# with 8. Both teams finished with 34 rebounds and 19 personal fouls each, but the Warriors had 15 assists to the Otters' 11 and made six blocks to the Otters' two.
The Otters next game is at home on Friday against Sonoma State. The game tips off at 5:30 p.m.
