SEASIDE --- Dana Andrews scored 28 points to lead the Cal State Monterey Bay, but her final two points at the buzzer still left the Otters short as they fell 61-59 to visiting CSU Los Angeles.
The Otters trailed early and were down 35-33 at the half but took the lead early in the second half and led late. Up 56-55 with under a minute to play and in possession of the ball, the Otters' Britnea Moore had the ball stolen from her by Jaemy Oda and then Moore fouled Oda. The CSULA guard made both free throws to put her team ahead 57-56 lead with 44 seconds left.
On the Otters' next possession, CSULAs' Veronica Williams intercepted a pass from Alma Lopez to Andrews and then the Golden Eagles ran the clock down to 5.1 seconds before getting a layup to take a 59-56 lead. Jessica Harris's long desperate inbounds pass was stolen again by Williams, who hit one of two from the line to seal the victory. Andrews would sink a bucket at the buzzer, but it was too little and the Otters lost 61-59.
Oda and Williams both scored 22 to lead CSULA. Krista Herr, with 10 points, was the only Otter besides Andrews to score in double figures. Herr also had eight rebounds.
