Gilmore comes to the CSUMB campus from Cal State Bakersfield, where he has served as sports information director/assistant athletic director since 1996.

Gilmore got his start in collegiate athletics administration as an undergrad at his alma mater, Cal Poly Pomona, working under CCAA legends Grayle Howlett, Brent Shyer and Ron Fremont and CCAA Hall of Fame Director of Athletics Karen Miller. He took his first full–time position at Cal State Dominguez Hills in 1989 and had stops at Cal State L.A. and San Francisco State before landing in Bakersfield.

While at CSUB, he helped the Roadrunners to six NCAA Division II titles, numerous conference and regional championships and the 1998 Sears Director Cup as the nation’s top overall athletics program.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Gilmore served on the media relations staff of the Los Angeles Rams (1989–92) and the Los Angeles Dodgers during their World Series run in 1988.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gilmore graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. An avid tennis player, he played for the Bakersfield Heat mixed doubles team which won the USTA Southern California Championship and advanced to the USTA National Championship round, reaching the quarterfinals in 2009.
