Christina Carroll joined the Otter Athletics sports medicine staff in July of 2024, bringing with her a wealth of national and international experience.
Carroll spent the past three seasons as the assistant athletic director for athletic training at NCAA Division II member New Mexico Highlands University. She oversaw the sports medicine program while working primarily with the Cowboy and Cowgirl football, basketball, women’s soccer, baseball and softball teams. Amongst her unique accomplishments in Las Vegas were the creation and implementation of an ACL prevention and hamstring strengthening program for the Cowgirl women’s soccer team.
Prior to her arrival at Highlands, Carroll gained several years of international experience. She served as the athletic trainer for U.S. Speedskating from 2019 through 2021. Before that, the worked for the Chinese Olympic Committee as the head athletic trainer for the Team China Diving, Freestyle Ski Moguls, Freestyle Snowboard and SBX teams.
Carroll got her start in collegiate sports medicine as the assistant athletic trainer at Lincoln (Pa.) University in 2014. From there, she moved to the NCAA Division I level as the interim head athletic trainer at Tennessee State in 2016.
She did her undergraduate work at NCAA Division II member Wingate (N.C.) University, earning her B.S. in athletic training. She earned her fist master’s degree in sports therapy and rehabilitation from the University of Kent in the U.K. She received her second master’s degree in sports administration from Arkansas State in 2020.
In addition to being a certified athletic trainer, Carroll earned a performance enhancement certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2018. She is also an American Red Cross certified CPR/AED/First Aid instructor.
