Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer head coach
Erin Reinke announced the hiring of
Kelsey Hood as assistant coach. Hood joins the Otters from St. Edward's University (Texas) where she severed as a volunteer assistant coach last season.
“I am very fortunate to have
Kelsey Hood join the coaching staff,” Reinke said. “She brings a wealth of coaching knowledge as well as collegiate and professional playing experience."
In her only season as assistant in 2012, St. Edward's was a West Regional semifinalist and Heartland Conference Tournament runner-up. Hood specifically coached the defensive line who put together 12 shutouts behind a 18-3 overall record.
A graduate of University of Minnesota, Hood led the Golden Gophers from the bottom of the Big Ten standings to a Big 10 Championship and Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA College Cup in 2008. Hood earned the Big 10 Defense Player of the Year and All-America second team honors in 2008.
After college, Hood played professionally in Norway with FK Donn of the Toppserien and the Vancouver Whitecaps of the W-League before concluding her career with the New England Mutiny of the Women's Soccer Premier League Elite.
“Kelsey is eager to start coaching in the CCAA,” Reinke said. “She will be able help the Otters see there is no limit on how far they can to go with their talents.”
