Despite joining Laura Van Wart’s staff just a year after finishing her collegiate playing career, Kayla King will bring significant coaching experience to the bench in her first season with the Otters.
King began building her collegiate coaching resume immediately following her collegiate playing career as an assistant at NCAA Division I member Nichols State during the 2001 season. This experience built on four years as a camp coach at Santa Clara University, Jacksonville University, Fresno State and Fresno Pacific. She also served as a club coach in the Central Valley with the Clovis Crossfire.
She began her collegiate playing career as a defender at Jacksonville University in 2016. She transferred to Fresno State for her junior and senior seasons, making 22 appearances for the Bulldogs. She played for the DeAnza Force in the ECNL and NPL and prep soccer at San Benito High School.
King graduated from Fresno State with her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. She currently is working on her master’s in early childhood development at Fresno State.
