Biography
2013 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Cristina Hernandez consistently ranked among CSUMB’s top finishers as a junior in 2013…PRed at both the 5K and 6K distances…lowered her 5K PR by nearly 50 seconds, finishing the Granite Regional Park course in 19:47.70 to place 40th at the Hornet Jamboree (Sept. 14)…ran sub–25s in her final four consecutive 6K races, including a personal best of 24:27.30 on Baylands Park at the Bronco Invitational (Oct. 19)…registered two Top 20 finishes, placing 14th at the Crystal Springs Invitational (Sept. 7) and 18th at the Sonoma State Invitational (Sept. 21).
2012 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Hernandez appeared in five of six races for the Otters as a sophomore, including the CCAA Championship meet where she was CSUMB’s No. 2 finisher…posted a season–best 20:35.4 in the USF Invitational 5K at Golden Gate Park to open the season (Sept. 1)…ran 25:12.1 on UCSD’s 6K course in the regular season (Oct. 6) before besting that mark nearly 14 seconds with a 24:58.3 on the same course at the CCAA meet (Oct. 20).
2011 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Hernandez recorded her best freshman 6K time in the Humboldt State Invitational at Patrick's Point State Park in Trinidad, Calif. finishing 24th overall with at 23:33.
High School: Hernandez came to the Otters as a four–year letterwinner for the Barons of Bonita High School…All–Mesa League honoree…received the Pepsi Cola Award…All–CIF recipient…ran a personal best of 5:18 in the mile, and a 14:18 in the 2.25 mile…also participated in track & field and soccer.
Personal: Hernandez is majoring in biology at CSUMB…career goal is to become a high school math teacher…daughter of Javier and Carmen Hernandez…has an older brother, Javier and two younger sisters: Clarisa and Claudia.
