Aaron Koski begins his first season as an assistant coach with the CSUMB men’s basketball program.
Koski is involved in all aspects of coaching and scouting, in addition to recruiting. His primary duties include film exchange, post player development, and team academic management.
Koski comes to CSUMB after serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Humboldt State University men’s basketball program in 2007-08. While there, the program won the CCAA conference title outright in their first year in the league and also earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Regional. The team went on to compete in NCAA Division II Sweet 16.
Prior to HSU, Koski served as an assistant coach for CSUMB for two seasons, from 2004 to 2006, under Bill Trumbo.
In 2003-04, Koski was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Feather River College (FRC), helping them reach their second conference title in five years. Koski was a player on their first Golden Valley Conference championship team in 1999-00.
Following graduation from FRC in 2002, Koski was the head coach for the junior varsity boy’s basketball team at Portola High School, losing only one game the entire season.
Koski has extensive experience coaching at summer basketball camps. He has worked for Stanford University, Bobby Knight’s Texas Tech Team Camps, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Snow Valley Basketball School. Most recently, Koski has been a Northern Regional Director of Summer Camp Operations for Basketball Jones Hoop Camps LLC.
Koski received his Bachelor’s degree from CSUMB in 2009, with a Double Major in Business Marketing and Psychology. He is currently completing his minor in Sports Management/Coaching in preparation for graduate school. He has one daughter Auri Kai-Liberty (6).
