Stephanie Pesqueira makes the short hop to CSUMB after playing a starring role in her freshman season at (now defunct) Bethany University…was the Bruins’ top pitcher, leading the team in wins (5), ERA (3.99) and strikeouts (54)…also was among Bethany’s top offensive players, leading the Bruins in stolen bases (6) and doubles (8) while finishing second on the team in average (.333) and RBIs (15)…earned team MVP and All–Cal Pac honors for her efforts.
 
HIGH SCHOOL
Pesqueira enjoyed a standout prep career at Tempe (Ariz.) High School…was an All–State 4A second team pick who was selected to play in the Arizona 4A All Star Game…was the 4A East Sky Region Player of the Year and Tempe All–City MVP for 2010…was a three–time first team all–city selection…led the Buffaloes to the 2007 Arizona 4A Division II final…also lettered in basketball and volleyball at Tempe…played travel ball with Hotshots 92 and Hotshots Gold.
 
PERSONAL
Pesqueira is majoring in collaborative health and human services…plans to pursue her master’s degree and become a social worker after graduating…named a U.S. Marine Corps Athlete/Leader of the Year for 2010…also earned the Joe Sellah Leadership Award for basketball as a senior…was an honor roll member in high school, graduating in the top five percent of her class…sister Christina played softball at South Dakota State…works with autistic children…parents are Carlos and Sandy Peaqueira.
