Biography


2012 – CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
Skyler Valdivia moved into the role of full–time starter in 2012, playing in all 60 games while starting 59 as a junior…set career highs with 34 hits, 36 runs scored and seven stolen bases…hit her first career triple in a win over Cal State San Bernardino (Feb. 24)…scored a career–high three runs against Chico State (Mar. 23)…set the CSUMB single–season record with 18 sacrifices…enters the season ranked No. 3 in career sacrifices with 20 and needs one to tie Niki Ames for No. 2 (Jamie Moon holds the career record with 40)…ranks No. 5 all–time with 74 runs scored…needs three starts to become the 14th Otter to start 100 games.

2011 – CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
Valdivia played a key role in the Otter outfield, starting 38 games as a sophomore in 2011…was CSUMB’s lone first team All–CCAA selection as a utility player…hit .276 with 21 runs scored in 47 appearances…started at four different positions as a sophomore, primarily at designated player (15) and centerfield (14)…had her first career three–hit game at Cal State San Bernardino (Feb. 12).

2010 – CAL STATE MONTEREY BAY
Valdivia made 40 appearances as a pinch runner during her freshman campaign of 2010…scored 17 runs and was perfect in two stolen base attempts.

HIGH SCHOOL
Valdivia prepped at Beaumont High School where she hit .315 as a senior in leading the Cougars to a third place finish in the Mountain Pass League…batted .350 in a sophomore season that saw her hit her first career triple and home run in a win over Notre Dame (April 13, 2007)…also played golf and basketball at BHS…played her travel ball with the Redlands Rockies and the So Cal Nationals.

PERSONAL
Valdivia is majoring in liberal studies with a career goal of becoming an elementary school teacher…earned CCAA Scholar–Athlete honors with a 3.44 GPA in 2010–11…was a four–time scholar–athlete in high school…parents are Mickey and Christy Valdivia.
