Biography

As a Junior in 2014-15: Competed in 14 events including the CCAA Championship, NCAA West/South Central Regional, and NCAA Championship... compiled 17 par/under par rounds including his season low of 66 in the first round of the CCAA Championship Medal Match Play... his low 54-hole score of 212 came at the National Championship where he finished tied for 10th at 1–under par... through 14 events Vernon finished in the Top 10 11 times, the top five three times, and earned a first place finish in the Medal Match Play of the conference tournament with a 6–under (66)... his average 18–hole score is lowest on the team at less than a stroke over par (72.97)... earned DII PING All–West Region team and All–CCAA team honors.

As a Sophomore in 2013-14: Competed for Akron in the fall before transferring to CSUMB for the Spring 2014 season…advanced to the Round of 32 at the 11eth U.S. Amateur in August of 2013...competed in eight events for CSUMB in the 2014 Spring season, including the NCAA Div. II National Championship... shot a 142 (-2) at the two-round St. Edward's Invitational and finished in 2nd place... had a low three-round score of 215 (+5) at the Coyote Classic... shot a 23 round average score of 74.4
 
As a Freshman in 2012-13: Appeared in all 11 events for the Akron University Zips…best fall finish camea t the Kenny Perry Invitational (10/14-16) where he posted a three-round score of 247 (+31) to close the event in 37th place…turned in a 75.74 scoring average in the spring over 19 rounds…earned a top-25 finish, closing his first Mid-American Conference Championship (5/3-5) in a tie for 17th place (304, +16)…posted his best 54-hole score at the Furman Intercollegiate (3/22-24), carding an 8-over 224.
 
High School: Earned all-conference and all-district honors all four years of high school ... named to the all-sectional team as a junior and senior ... garnered all-state honors as a junior and senior ... was a quarterfinalist at the 2011 Missouri Amateur Championship and also participated in the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur ... as a junior, he finished second at the Missouri High School State Championship event while earning district and sectional medalist honors ... also named the Plantations Junior Golf Tour and the Missouri Junior Player of the Year as a junior ... posted the school record for a four-round score (287, +3) ... finished tied for 19th place in the stroke play portion before falling in the round of 32 in match play at the 2012 Missouri Amateur Championship.
 
Personal: Son of Jimmy and Stacey Vernon…has two sisters: Audrey and Chloe…majoring in business administration.
