Biography
2014 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Jake Bermel redshirted for the Otters in 2014.
2013 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Bermel ran in five events as a sophomore in 2013…ran sub–30 8Ks in back–to–back meets, including a PR of 29:02.70 at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Park…finished 69th at the CCAA Championship meet in 30:34.90.
2012 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Bermel made two appearances for the Otters as a sophomore…ran a 24:28.8 6K at the Hornet Jamboree in Granite Regional Park (Sept. 8) and a 34:15.5 8K at the Bronco Invitational in Baylands Park (Oct. 13).
2011 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Jake recorded his best freshman time at the Bronco Invitational held at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, posting a 31:06 in the 8K.
High School: Bermel came to CSUMB after a four–year varsity career at Valencia High School…also ran track all four years…ran a personal best of 1:13:50 in the half marathon.
Personal: Bermel is majoring in kinesiology at CSUMB…career plans include grad school and becoming a physical therapist…son of Seth and Amy Bermel…has an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Julie…is a 3–time Academic All–CCAA award winner…was recognized as a four–time scholar–athlete at Valencia HS.
