Biography

2016 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Alex Wallach was one of the stalwarts of the Otter lineup as a junior, competing in all six races…best finish (32nd) and best time (a PR of 26:10.43) both came on the Patrick’s Point State Park course at the Humboldt State Invitational (Sept. 10)…ran sub 27 minutes in three of his four 8K starts…navigated the Amend Park course at the NCAA West Regional Championship in 33:29.52, the 15th fastest 10K in Otter history.

2015 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Wallach continued to acclimate to collegiate racing by appearing in all seven meets as a sophomore…saved his best for last by posting the 5th fastest 10K time in Otter history (32:30.69) at the NCAA Division II West Regional on the Ash Creek Preserve course in Salem, Ore. (Nov. 7)…opened the season with an 8K PR of 26:13.20 at the UC Riverside Invitational on the UCR Ag Ops course (Sept. 12)…PRed again with a 25:39.50 at the Bronco Invitational on the Baylands Park course (Oct. 17)…claimed his top collegiate finish by placing fifth at the Sonoma State Invitational (Oct. 3).

2014 – Cal State Monterey Bay: Wallach enjoyed a promising freshman campaign in which he raced six times… set an 8K PR with a 26:42.00 on the Baylands Park course at the Bronco Invitational (Oct. 18)…all six of his races came at the 8K distance…top finish was 38th place at the UCSD Triton Invitational (Oct. 25).

High School: Wallach became an Otter after starring in cross country and track at Walnut High School in suburban Los Angeles…was an All–Hacienda League pick and a CIF Southern Section Division I qualifier as a senior in 2013…helped lead the Mustangs to consecutive league titles while earning the team’s coaches award (2012) and most improved award (2013)…also earned the WHS coaches award for track as a senior…out of season, Wallach runs with the Southern California Cheetahs.

Personal: Wallach is majoring in environmental studies at CSUMB…career goal is to work for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife…enjoys hiking, biking, snorkeling and other outdoor activities in his spare time…parents are John and Eman Wallach.
