Biography


2015 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Redshirted due to a preseason foot injury.
2014 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Earned All–CCAA second team honors.
Finished seventh in the CCAA in scoring (15.7 ppg) and second in steals (1.7 spg).
His 392 points rank No. 17 on the Otter single season list.
His 42 steals rank No. 8.
Scored in double figures in his first eight games.
Began his MB career with a bang by scoring 21 points in the season–opening win at Academy of Art (Nov. 19)., 1 of his 8 20–plus points games.
Scored in double figures in 21 of 25 games, including a season–high 27 points at Sonoma State (Feb. 28).
Never went consecutive games without scoring in double figures.
Chaffey College
Led Chaffey College to the California JuCo championship game in 2013.
Included in that run was a semifinal victory over top–ranked and previously undefeated City College of San Francisco in which Nitz led the Panthers with 20 points.
In addition to being named to the All–State Tournament team, Nitz earned All–Foothill Conference honors with solid all–around averages of 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
Was an honorable mention All–Foothill Conference pick as a freshman with averages of 6.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and a team–leading 2.7 assists per game.
High School
Played two seasons of varsity ball, leading the Cougars to a share of the Baseline League title as a junior in 2009.
Earned All–Baseline League honors as a senior in 2010 when he averaged 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.1 steals per game.
Personal
Is majoring in human communications and minoring in marine biology at CSUMB.
Hopes to play professionally after graduating from CSUMB.
Earned his associate’s degree from Chaffey College in communications/general studies.
Lists video games, watching sports and working out among his leisure time activities.
Is the son of Laine and Rick Nitz.
Rick spent nine seasons as a pitcher in the L.A. Dodgers organization (1970–78).
