Biography
2013 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Already one of the most prolific long–range shooters in CSUMB men’s basketball history, James Thomas will look to make indelible marks in the Otter record book during his senior campaign…enters the season ranked No. 8 on the CSUMB career lists for both 3–point fields made (81) and attempted (239)…at his historical pace, he would end his career No. 5 on the list for 3–point makes…enters the season ranked No. 12 in career games played with 66.
2012 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Thomas made the transition from reserve to starter by the end of his sophomore season, appearing in all 26 games while making 13 starts…started the final nine games and 13 of the last 16…scored in double figures eight times, including a career–high 19 point effort against Cal State L.A. (Dec. 18)…first double–figure scoring effort was a 14–point night in a win over Sonoma State (Dec. 3)…passed for a career–high three assists against Cal State Dominguez Hills (Dec. 19).
2011 – Cal State Monterey Bay
Thomas got his introduction to collegiate basketball by appearing in 15 games as a freshman…scored a season–high six points at Humboldt State (Feb. 19)…saw his court time increase later in the season, playing double–digit minutes in his final three appearances.
High School
Thomas earned honorable mention All–Hayward Area Athletic League honors as a senior at Oakland’s Bishop O’Dowd High School in 2010…scored a season–high 17 points in a win over Moreau Catholic (Jan. 6, 2010)…helped lead the Dragons to a perfect 16–0 mark in HAAL play, the CIF North Coast Division III title and a berth in the 2010 state championship game…played club ball with West Valley Basketball.
Personal
Thomas is majoring in business administration…plans to pursue an MBA and a J.D. with the career goal of becoming sports agent…answers to the nickname J.T.…his father, James Thomas, Sr., was a standout player at the University of Alberta and won a gold medal representing Alberta in the Western Canada games…parents are Ann DuMont and James Thomas.
