Riley Grabau

Cal State Monterey Bay men’s basketball Head Coach Isaac Williams moved quickly to fill a vacancy on his bench by naming University of Wyoming Director of Recruitment Riley Grabau as his top assistant for the 2021–22 season.

Grabau spent the 2020–21 season in Laramie, where he performed a variety of duties as director of recruitment. In addition to scouting and recruiting projects, he broke down film, coordinated housing for the student–athletes and created and organized the Cowboys’ summer youth camp.

Prior to Wyoming, Grabau served as the boys varsity head coach at Boulder (Colo.) High School where he led the Panthers to a pair of winning seasons, including 20 wins and a No. 11 ranking in Colorado 5A play for the 2019–20 season.

Grabau played collegiately at Wyoming, leading the Cowboys to the Mountain West Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament bid as a senior in 2015. For his career, Grabau finished second in Wyoming history in threes made (171), third in threes attempted (465), fifth in 3-point percentage (.368), first in free-throw percentage (.882), ninth in games started (97) and 11th in games played (120).

Following his Cowboy career, he played professionally in Scotland for the Glasgow Rocks.

Grabau is 2015 graduate of Wyoming with a degree in criminal justice. He is a native of Boulder. His older brother, Chase, played Division I basketball at Idaho State.
